![]() (Click on above thumbnails to enlarge photos) SONY SONY TC-366 TC-355 These are a couple decks that we purchased from people who said it "works fine". They did actually FF, REW and move in Play mode, but that's where it ended. We knew they would need work, as all 20 to 40+ year old tape decks do have a number of things (typically 10-18 hours of tech time + parts) that need to be taken care of prior to being usable, but we don't see too many in as bad a shape as these were (click above photos for details). Again these are decks that came from someone who said they "work fine"! Be careful out there when you're getting excited about bidding on that "good deal" on that on line eb_y, Yahoo, Amazon or other auction that say's "all functions test fine and deck works as it should". Yeah, right. Just FYI. |

*A note about Reverse / Auto-Reverse /: Reverse means that you can manual switch directions in play mode. You can generally do this at any point in the tapes travel. Auto-Reverse usually means that a deck will automatically switch play directions at the end. This is usually triggered by special foil tape installed on the tapes for sensors on the machine to pick-up. Some machines also require longer foil tape than others. Also decks vary in the side the foil tape has to be installed on to function. If you tape does not have the foil installed or it's foil is too short, or it happens to be installed on the wrong side, Auto-Reverse may not function. Auto-Reverse may only be designed to work in one direction as well. |

Looks
GREAT & is "Ready-to-go"!
The very sought after Pioneer RT-707 Stereo Reel to Reel tape deck.
Will play / record stereo 1/4" tapes on reels up to 7". This is one
of the few reel to reel decks we get in that make it to our finished
page. Great performer. If you're looking for a reel to reel deck to
"actually use" here you go. Only about 25%
of the used Reel decks out there can be "practically" restored to
working order. This one made it through and all functions test
great! Looks and sounds great too! We have completely gone through
it. Motors: Direct-drive 3 motors / FG Servo, Tape Speed: 3-3/4 and 7-1/2 Wow and flutter: Less than 0.05% WRMS (7-1/2 ips) Signal to noise ratio: >58dB Frequency response: 7-1/2 ips: 30Hz to 24kHz. Crosstalk: >50dB. Channel separation: >50dB Pitch-control: +/- 6% 2 VU-meters: dB (+3 to -20) Output Level at 0-VU: 450mV Microphone Input Impedance: 27kΩ Rewind Time w/ 1200 Tape: - 100 sec As stated earlier we have completely gone through it cleaning, lubing, adjusting, demagnetizing and testing everything. Plays and records perfectly. 707's are direct drive thus requiring no drive belt to wear out. The only belt to wear out or break is the counter belt. Since the 707 does not use the counter for "Auto-Stop" sensing, if you ever break the counter belt, the deck will still run fine, unlike some other high-end decks. Just FYI. Thick & solid brushed aluminum face plate in great condition with only slight marks from previous rack mounting. Unit comes with copy of owners / users manual. Measures 19" wide x 14.5" deep x 9.5" high and weighs 44 lbs unpacked. Includes our standard 90 day limited warranty. (Reels & tape shown in photos not included.
