 for sale
We have completely gone through this unit cleaning all switches, contacts and controls as well as cleaning unit inside and polishing face, and knobs. We also aligned the tuner front-end for optimum performance as older tuner components have drifted over the years. All dial lamps replaced. Balance of lamps checked for luminosity. Only lamp that was not replaced was the dial pointer bulb, as those are prohibitively time consuming to be practical to replace. All inputs tested and both side produces clean and even sine waves into static 8 & 4 ohm loads! No power supply hum of any kind and was measured @ <2.0mV AC. It's dead silent! All functions test fine. Following restoration procedures, the unit was ran continuously at medium volume, as all our amplifier / receivers are, into a load with "Loudness" on and both Tone Controls at 10 for 48 hours. All functions test perfectly.

On our test bench, each internal amplifier of this particular unit produced peak power of 15.25 volts per channel at 8 ohms for 29 watts and 13.25 volts per channel at 4 ohms for 44 watts via discrete outputs (2x D526 and 2x B596)

We have completely gone through this unit including all switches, contacts, and controls cleaned for static free performance, complete cleaning inside and out, all dial and meter lamps were replaced as well as the stereo indicator lamp, and all functions tested. We also aligned the tuner front-end for optimum FM performance as older internal tuner components have always drifted on vintage gear over the years. VERY GOOD TUNER! AM  reception WAAAYYY above average & FM reception is outstanding as well. All inputs tested and both side produces clean and even sine waves into static 8 & 4 ohm loads! No power supply hum of any kind. It's dead silent!  Following restoration procedures, the unit was ran continuously at medium volume, as all our amplifier / receivers are, into a load with "Loudness" on and both Tone Controls at 10 for 48 hours.

On our test bench, each internal amplifier of this particular unit, #80414 produced
peak power of 12.5 volts per channel @ 8 Ω for 19.5 watts per channel and 9.0 volts per channel @ 4 Ω for 20.25 watts per channel via discrete output devices.

SOLD 12/21/09

 for sale
We have completely gone through this cleaning inside and out including all contacts, switches and controls. AM & FM tuner re-aligned and front-end adjusted for optimum performance. All new dial & meter lamps. All inputs tested and both side produces clean and even sine waves into static 8 & 4 ohm loads! No power supply hum of any kind as it was benched at <1.5mV on each channel. It's dead silent! All functions test fine. Only issue is cosmetic, and it's due to the lower, side trims have significant scuffs (see lower, right photos above). Following restoration procedures, the unit was ran continuously at medium volume, as all our amplifier / receivers are, into a load with "Loudness" on and both Tone Controls at 10 for 48 hours.

On our test bench, the internal amplifiers of this particular unit  #...0313, produced a strong 38.6 volts per channel @ 8 ohms for 169 watts per channel, and 30.5 volts per channel @ 4 ohms for 232 watts!!! per channel via discrete, metal cased TO-3 outputs with 1 kHz input.
(
DC output: L channel = 0.0004mv & R channel = 0.0004 mv. AC draw at idle 0.5A tested)

Again, as stated before, we have completely gone through this unit cleaning, refurbishing and testing all. This is an incredible sounding receiver in all aspects. Due to it's huge power output, even at very low volumes it sound's like a "Class-A" amplifier. The controls are very "musical" sounding, especially the tone control circuit. Also, the reception on both the AM and FM tuning bands are excellent, and the AM is exceptional for a stereo receiver. For the majority of folks, exceptional AM would be inconsequential, but if it is important to you, like it is to me, this becomes an all-around, very usable receiver and a pleasure to use. Again, other than the scuffing to the lower side trim pieces, unit looks great! Beautiful aluminum face, with it's beveled dial glass and all original, milled knobs in fabulous shape. Wood grain, vinyl wrapped case in great shape as well. Unit looks great and sounds HUGE! This is truly one of the original "BIG BOYS"! Measures 22" wide x 8" tall x 18.5" deep and weighs an impressive 55 lbs unpacked. Includes our standard 90 day limited warranty.

Receiver has had complete service including cleaning everything including all switches, controls and contacts. We also aligned the tuner front-end for optimum AM & FM performance as older internal tuner components have always drifted on vintage gear over the years and this one had definitely drifted. Pulls stations great now. All dial & meter lamps replaced as well as the FM stereo indicator. All inputs tested and both side produces clean and even sine waves into static 8 & 4 ohm loads! No power supply hum of any kind. It's dead silent! All functions test fine. Following restoration procedures, the unit was ran continuously at medium volume, as all our amplifier / receivers are, into a load with "Loudness" on and both Tone Controls at 10 for 48 hours.

On our test bench, the internal amplifiers of this particular unit  KR-7400, #...1029, produced 26 volts  per channel for 84 watts per channel @ 8 Ω via discrete output & 22 volts per channel for 121 watts per channel @ 4 Ω  via discrete, metal cased TO-3 outputs with 1 kHz input. (2NEC 2SB539 & 2X 2SD287 output transistors.

Black anodized, brushed aluminum face and all original, milled knobs in fabulous shape

We have completely gone through this cleaning inside and out including all contacts, switches and controls. AM & FM tuner re-aligned and front-end adjusted for optimum performance. All lamps were replaced including all dial, all indicator, both A&B speaker indicators, FM Stereo indicator and "Quartz Lock" with new units for trouble-free service.

On our test bench, the internal amplifiers of this particular unit  #...1992S, produced a strong 26 volts per channel @ 8 ohms for 84 watts and 22 volts @ 4 ohms for 121 watts per channel via discrete outputs with 1 kHz input. (2x  2SA1075 & 2X 2SC2525 output transistors. Same as Pioneer SX-3700 & Kenwood KR-750)
