SHIPPED TO BILL IN TEXAS

ü Our technician has completely gone through and 'Certified' this unit.

ü
We have completely gone through the mechanicals and electronics of this unit.

ü All Power supply outputs tested and verified at spec.

ü Transport mechanisms disassembled, cleaned, lubed w/ 'SuperLube', silicone based gel and light machine oil as necessary and reassembled including PR Pivot Arm mechanism.

ü Tape Tension arms disassembled, cleaned and re-lubed, and had fresh 500,000 grade silicone lube gel applied

ü Tape Left Tension arm had extra spring tension added for better performance on tape handling

ü Capstan flywheel removed, cleaned bushings and axels cleaned and re-lubed. Flywheel surface burnished.

ü Capstan cleaned and burnished in drill press while removed

ü pinch-roller mechanism completely disassembled, cleaned and re-lubed.

ü Rubber pinch roller removed, re-surfaced, conditioned and re-installed with fresh lubricant.

ü Impedance roller had both it’s end bearings removed and new ones pressed in for ‘silent’ tape transportation.

ü Fresh, new 'Main' / Capstan belt (#42-3005) installed as original belt was 'melted' back to goo.

ü Fresh, new counter belt (#048) installed.

ü Heads have been cleaned and de-magnetized as well as the entire transport.

ü Brakes adjusted on fast wind modes also (optimized for 7" & 10.5" tape.)

ü Back tension checked / adjusted on both reel motors.

ü All three motors test perfectly. Following above adjustments, Reel Start and Stop tested at beginning, middle and end of 7" & 10.5" tapes (VERY QUICK 'FAST WIND' ON THIS ONE)

ü Both spindles in perfect alignment w/ no 'run-out' at any speed.

ü Both spindle-locks hold tightly.

ü We also checked / adjusted the reel table heights.

ü Heads in great shape as well, with many years of performance left in them (see photos)

ü Removed and burnished COMMONLY INTERMITTENT contacts on channel Circuit Boards and re-seated. Adjusted pin contacts for better connections. Was discovered that these connectors was the source of channel intermittence.

ü All meter lamps working great as they’re ‘very low’ current draw and will likely last decades more.

ü All 'internal' / PC mounted pots, switches and controls cleaned and tested for noise-free function

ü All 'User' pots, switches and controls cleaned and tested for noise-free function

ü Playback and Record Head alignment / azimuth was adjusted for peak performance with factory test tone tape and oscilloscope.

ü We adjusted the VU meters mechanically for correct 'resting position' and electronically w/ factory test tone tapes, as well as the internal playback, Monitor levels, and record levels utilizing “STL” test / alignment tapes.

ü We adjusted the Bias for great sound with Ampex GM-456 tape.

ü Speed tested to 99.9% accuracy following refurb (meaning that our 'verified' 1000Hz accuracy using a 1000 Hz “STL” test tape.  (test tape now plays back at 1001 when ‘warmed up’).

ü Adjusted to record AMAZINGLY WELL at 0dB both with full bandwidth Pink-Noise, then 1kHz test and in 'Real World' use w/ 'mixed DDD CD' signals. (Tested with Maxell UDXL Tape and Ampex GM-456 (bias set for Ampex GM-456).

ü Floor noise measured at >-60dBm w/ blank tape, L&R

ü Following refurb / service mechanicals tested for 'play torque' at beginning and end of largest size reels, as well as 'Fast wind torque' and 'braking tension' in both FF and REW, at beginning, middle and end of tapes. In other words, every combination of transport function was tested and passed.

ü This TEAC / TASCAM 40-4 functions, plays, and records VERY WELL (and we really put them through the paces, testing both with well mixed, recently recorded CD material and CD recorded / factory test tones looking for correct head Azimuth and speed accuracy).  (Total time investment in refurb / testing ~ 18 hours).

This is an amazing deck for both recording or playback, again of Multi-Track / Four-Track / Four-Channel / Stereo / Quadraphonic / Mono' tapes for speeds of 7.5ips or 15ips. Following refurbishment, the deck looks and works great and sounds amazing!!!

The encore to the TEAC / A-3440, the TEAC / TASCAM 40-4 Multi-Track / Four-Track / Four-Channel / Stereo / Quadraphonic / Mono (Yep, that pretty much covers everything but 'half-track') Reel to Reel tape deck. Ready to GO! We've had this deck in our warehouse for years, waiting for a 'senior tech' who was qualified to the task of bringing such a deck back to life CORRECTLY. One of a recent few, we've had make it through satisfactorily in 24+ years of dealing in vintage audio.

This is the deck that most folks want for their home studio to record 'raw tracks' on. For examples; you could lay down bass and drums on one track, then rhythm guitar on the next track, lead guitar on track 3 and vocals on track 4. Or you can lay down tracks 2-4, then bounce them to track 1 and have 2, 3 & 4 free again. Or you can records 'heads-up' (all four tracks at once), then mix those down later. Of course, you can record 'normal stereo' tapes, or you can record 4 separate mono tracks if you're trying to conserve tape. Or, Or, Or...

Following our extensive refurb / bench time it's now an AMAZING performer (Check the 'recording test results' above and the 'specs' in text below). If you're looking for a reel to reel deck to "actually use" here you go. Only about 25% of the used Reel decks out there can be "practically" restored to working order. This one made it through with flying colors after about 18 hours of bench time.

The deck tests great! Cosmetically it's in great condition. The deck tests great! Cosmetically it's in great condition. Really not much cosmetically to talk about that the above photos don't show. There's a few small tics along the edges of the wood, grain side panels and a bit of wear to the edges of the finish on the head cover and a few scratches on the pinch roller hub cap. Nothing at all distracting. Just a solidly built, 'Pro' series deck, that's READY TO GO!

We sourced all of it later from another deck we purchased. (see photos above). Functions and sounds great ! Will play up to 10.5" reels.

Cosmetics are not great, with numerous 'battle scars', but makes up for that in performance.

ü Plays perfectly and after adjustment, records AMAZINGLY well at 0dB! on Maxell UDXL-II tapes and +1dB on Maxell UR / Normal Bias tapes. (Following the extensive restoration, we did 'test recordings' of a 'ddd' CD on 6 tapes; Sony Normal Bias, Fuji Normal Bias, TDK Normal Bias, Maxell Normal Bias, TDK 'SA' High Bias, and Maxell 'XL-II' High Bias. We found that for Normal and High Bias, of those tapes tested, both the TDK and "Maxells" performed VERY well on this particular deck. The Maxell's did however much 'outshine' the TDK's for being able to 'over saturate' on the levels. While doing the test recording's, it became apparent that the recorded sound was quite remarkable.

ü Our technician has completely and EXTENSIVELY gone through and 'Certified' this unit which involves complete removal and disassembly of the entire transport, cleaning inside and out, DISASSEMBLING, cleaning and re-lubricating all internal mechanisms and the balance of efforts listed below.

ü Heads inspected for excessive wear (obviously we do this 'early on' as 'excessive' wear will usually negate any further restoration work). These have virtually NO visible wear to them.

ü Capstan motor spindle bushing re-lubed

ü Capstan burnished

ü Internal DC power supply tested

ü 'Reel drive' tires reconditioned installed for trouble-free service. (These are actually much more important to replace on this deck (and most) than the belts. Without these, the deck won't fast wind very well, and will likely 'eat tapes' as the 'take-up' reel won't turn properly)

ü New internal Drive (#42-340) and Counter (#42-470) belts installed for trouble-free service.

ü Rubber pinch rollers have been reconditioned

ü Both Flywheel 'belt surfaces' solvent cleaned

ü Bronze Flywheel bushings solvent cleaned

ü Both Flywheel thrust pads cleaned

ü Both Brake pads replaced

ü Entire flywheel assemblies re-lubed upon re-assembly

ü Heads have been cleaned and de-magnetized as well as the entire transport.

ü All original illumination working well

ü Head alignments and azimuth at 125Hz, 1kHz and 10kHz adjusted for 'peak performance' with O-Scope and original TEAC alignment tape

ü All internal pots, switches and controls cleaned and tested. Performing well now, with a bit of residual noise on one of the 'output' pots (fortunately, once 'output' pots on tape decks are 'set', they're usually not moved).

ü Both spindles in perfect alignment.

ü FF, REW, & Play transport functions all test perfectly and controls tested for 'positive / accurate' responsive.

ü 'Silicone Damped' Eject door operates smoothly following disassembly and re-lubing w/ silicone gel (must 'hold' down "Eject" button on this series until door releases)

ü Tape Counter Function tested

ü Dolby NR circuits / function tested

ü 'Memory / Zero Return' function tested

ü Heads are in great condition

ü Internal playback levels adjusted for even playback w/ alignment tape, Oscilloscope, and mVAC meter

ü Playback meters adjusted for 'playback' zero'd with factory test tone tape.

ü Internal Record amplifier channels adjusted for 'even output'

ü Pinch roller and heads all in GREAT condition!!!

ü Overall floor noise measured at >-60dB.

ü Speed adjusted internally to 100% accuracy BOTH directions, with 1kHz factory calibration tape and frequency counter (meaning 1kHz calibration tape plays back at 1000Hz +/- 1Hz)

ü Plays great and after adjustment, records AMAZINGLY well w/ following results;
With 1kHz recorded at 0dB / 1 7/8ips / w/o Dolby engaged; -1.25dB on Maxell UDXL-II / High Bias tapes
With DDD CD recorded at 0dB / 1 7/8ips / w & w/o Dolby engaged; -1 to -2 dB on Maxell UDXL-II / High Bias tapes

Bottom line is this deck sounds amazing for playback or recording (always make sure you're playing back 'good quality' tape recordings)
Total technician time to restore
8+ HOURS!

(Tech note: This model deck is "VERY SERVICEABLE" since it's in their 'Pro-Line'.
(Only remaining issues would be that REW is a bit noisy when nearing completion on most brands of tapes and Right output pot still a bit noisy when manipulated)

ü NEW, 'reel drive' tire installed for trouble-free service. (These are actually much more important to replace on this deck {and most} than the belts. Without these, the deck won't fast wind very well {if at all}, and will likely 'eat tapes' as the 'take-up' reel won't turn properly)

ü All three Main Drive and Counter belts replaced for trouble-free service.

ü Rubber pinch rollers have been reconditioned

ü Flywheel 'belt surfaces' solvent cleaned

ü Bronze Flywheel bushings solvent cleaned

ü Entire flywheel assemblies re-lubed upon re-assembly

ü Interconnects on 'transport circuit board' repaired

ü All internal pots, switches and controls cleaned and tested for noise-free function.

ü Heads have been cleaned and de-magnetized as well as the entire transport.

ü Head alignment and azimuth at 125Hz, 1kHz and 10kHz adjusted for BOTH directions for 'peak performance' with O-Scope and w/ STL and TEAC MTT-257H calibration / alignment tapes. Both channels now even output.

ü FF, REW, & Play transport functions all test perfectly and controls tested for 'positive / accurate' responsive w/ new idler tire installed.

ü 'Silicone Damped' Eject door operates smoothly.

ü Tape Counter 'Reset' button fabricated & tested

ü Tape Counter Function tested

ü Dolby NR circuits / function tested

ü 'Memory / Zero Return' function tested

ü Meters adjusted to even zero with symmetric with Volt meter, O-Scope and w/ STL and TEAC MTT-257H calibration / alignment tapes. Both channels now even output.

ü Both Internal playback amplifier channels adjusted with Volt meter, O-Scope and w/ STL and TEAC MTT-257H calibration / alignment tapes. Both channels now even output.

ü Meters adjusted to even zero with symmetric input with Volt meter, O-Scope and w/ STL and TEAC MTT-257H calibration / alignment tapes. Both channels now even output.

ü Both Internal Record amplifier channels adjusted with Volt meter, O-Scope and w/ STL and TEAC MTT-257H calibration / alignment tapes.

ü Pinch roller and heads all in GREAT condition!!!

ü Overall floor noise measured at >-60dB.

üSpeed adjusted internally to 100% accuracy BOTH directions, with 1kHz factory calibration tape and frequency counter (meaning 1kHz calibration tape plays back at 1000Hz +/- 1Hz)

ü Cosmetically, there are some 'whiteish spots" that we weren't able to affect. 409, Alcohol, nor Naptha seemed to have any effect on them.

ü Plays great and after adjustment, records AMAZINGLY well w/ following results;

ü With White Noise recorded @ -0dB w/o Dolby engaged PB = -3dB & With White Noise recorded @ -10dB w/o Dolby engaged PB = 0dB

ü With White Noise recorded @ -10dB w/o Dolby engaged PB = -10dB & @ 10kHz w/o Dolby engaged PB = -10dB on Maxell UDXL-II / High Bias tape

ü With 1kHz recorded @ 0dB with Dolby engaged on Maxell XL-II (high bias) tapes PB = -2dB

ü With 'ddd' CD recorded @ 0dB with Dolby engaged; -3dB on Maxell UDXL-II / High Bias tape

Bottom line is this deck sounds great for playback or recording (always make sure you're playing back 'good quality' tape recordings)

HEY, WHY ALL THE 'X'd' OUT / OMITTED SPECS AND TEXT?

Again, we have completely cleaned, refurbished / serviced and thoroughly tested this Teac A-510 cassette tape deck.
Great for transferring your no NR or Dolby B NR encoded tape collection to CD, Hard-drive or MP3 especially with the 'Tape EQ' selector for 'fine tuning' older tapes. Built very well! Again, not going to win any beauty contests, but performs decently. Due to it's size, overall feel, the 'input controls' and the 'transport control' this deck really is a blast to use. Comes with an 'e-copy / pdf download' of the TEAC A-510-MKII owners / users / instruction manual, and the TEAC A-510 / A-500 cassette tape deck service manual if the purchaser desires. Measures 18.6" wide x 13.5" deep x 7.25" tall and weighs a VERY HEAVY 24 lbs unpacked. Just in-case you 'too casually' read past that last little bit,

Notes: This was a 'one owner' deck, purchased at the Navy exchange. He always kept it under it's original, TEAC vinyl cover. Also, and just as importantly, he was not a smoker. This unit is probably THE CLEANEST unit inside we've ever serviced.
Other tech notes;
"Cleanest deck ever encountered. All 'Basic' functions worked pretty well 'out of the gate'. First TEAC of this series, we didn't have to 'heat' the PR arm assembly to remove it."

Following it's restoration here at Oak Tree Vintage, this deck is probably among the best 2 or maybe 3, TOP performing reel to reels we've EVER had (and I'm lumping in one particular Pioneer RT-909 @ $3499, and an Otari MX-5050B-II @ $3200.00).

This is the first Teac A-1500 that has made it through restoration we have had in 24 years
(only second we've ever had, but the first one had too much head wear to start restoration). Great machine for playback / archiving your tapes to CD or Hard Drive or for recording new tapes. This is a beautiful deck. About the only cosmetic issues worth mentioning are some veneer chips / flaking on the lower edge of the wood veneer case (we have re-attached this down so shouldn't get any worse, and the head cover has been changed at some point to a "1200U" (probably someone misplaced the original, and could only find a 1200 cover at the time). There's also a few, numerous light striations on the face plate, and a small ding on the lower, front edge of the cabinet / case (see photos above).   Performs incredibly well following refurbishing. Face plates,  knobs and all cosmetics fabulous! Measures 17" wide x 15.5" tall x 10" (from tip of back feet-tip of hubs) deep and weighs 41 lbs unpacked. ü Our technician has completely gone through and 'Certified' this unit.

ü

We have completely and extensively gone through the mechanicals and electronics of this unit.

ü Entire transport was disassembled down to the chassis, and every mechanical part was disassembled, cleaned, re-lubed and reassembled including; Both Tape Lifters, Pinch Roller Pivot Arm, EOT Sensor Arm, Left Tape Tension arm mechanism, Capstan Motor (clean and re-lube), Capstan and flywheel shaft removed cleaned / re-lubed (pretty much every moving part)

ü Tape Tension arms disassembled, cleaned and re-lubed, and their springs adjusted

ü Originally 'Frozen' pinch-roller mechanism completely disassembled, cleaned and re-lubed,

ü Capstan / flywheels removed, bushings and axels cleaned and re-lubed and flywheels burnished

ü Capstan burnished

ü Rubber pinch roller removed and re-conditioned

ü MAIN drive belt reconditioned and re-installed

ü Brand new counter belt, #152 installed (FYI; requires removal of TU reel table trim, Top front Trim, and dismounting of Power Transformer)

ü Heads have been cleaned and de-magnetized as well as the entire transport.

ü Brakes adjusted on fast wind modes at ALL points thru a tape. It's a fine line between having the brakes actuate with too much tension, 'abruptly' stopping the tape (risking stretching / breaking of tape) or too loose (allows tape to 'dump'). (VERY difficult to do on this series). Brakes optimized for 7" reels.

ü Re-lubed all 3 motors (all have 'oil tubes')

ü Fabricated new 'oil slinger' for capstan shaft

ü Back tension adjusted on both reel motors.

ü All three motors test perfectly. Following above adjustments, Reel Start and Stop tested at beginning, middle and end of 7" tapes

ü Internal pots, switches and controls cleaned and tested for noise-free function (initially, of course, had typical static / noise which is to be expected in an 'un-serviced' deck after 35+ years).

ü Cleaned all 'user' slide switches and control pots

ü Checked / replaced VU meter lamps / bulbs

ü We adjusted all  four VU meters mechanically and electronically w/ factory test tone tapes, as well as the internal playback levels for both directions independently and record levels.

ü Replaced ALL 4 'spark arrestors' (0.1mfd in series w/ 120Ω resistor)

ü Both spindles in perfect alignment.

ü We also adjusted the reel table heights for average reel flanges.

ü Heads in great shape as well, with many years of performance left in them.

ü Playback and Record Head alignment / azimuth was adjusted for peak performance with factory test tone tape and oscilloscope.

ü Entire deck detailed inside and out cosmetically

ü Speed tested to 99.4% accuracy following refurb (meaning that our 'verified' 1000Hz test tape now plays back at 1006Hz).

ü Adjusted to record VERY WELL. Biased for Ampex GM 456 studio tape with the following results w/ Output control ~"2:00 PM":
1kHz recorded @ 0dB resulted in PB @ 0dB

ü 'Real World, DDD CD recorded @ zero dB = PB of zero dB! (w/ GM456).

ü
Floor noise measured at >-60dB w/ blank tape, L&R

ü This Teac A-2340R functions, plays, and records VERY WELL (and we really put them through the paces, testing both with well mixed, recently recorded CD material and CD recorded / factory test tones looking for correct head Azimuth and speed accuracy).

Face is beautiful, brushed, Stainless Steel and case is in LIKE NEW condition.

The Teac A-2340R Stereo Reel to Reel tape deck. Ready to GO! This is one of the few reel to reel decks we get in that make it to our finished page. Great performer. If you're looking for a reel to reel deck to "actually use" here you go. Only about 25 % of the used Reel decks out there can be "practically" restored to working order. This one made it through with flying colors after about 19.5 hours of bench time.

The deck tests great! Looks and sounds great too! We have completely gone through it. Will play 5" & 7" reels (would play small 2-5" to 3" as well).

As stated earlier we have completely gone through it cleaning heads and all else, lubing, adjusting, reconditioning pinch rollers and other rubber parts, demagnetizing heads and entire transport and testing everything. Tape speed tested and resulted in 99.4% accuracy using a 1000 Hz test tape. Plays and records Exceptionally well (and we really put them through the paces, testing both with well mixed CD material and CD test tones looking for correct head Azimuth, tape speed accuracy and making test recordings). Pinch rollers and heads all in GREAT condition!!! Face is made of beautiful, brushed, stainless steel and looks great. Very clean and looks near new. Unit looks GREAT!

ü Entire transport was disassembled down to the chassis, and every mechanical part was disassembled, cleaned, re-lubed and reassembled

ü Replaced one of the 'safety switches' on the tape tension arms with original / OEM parts (reversing a 'rigged repair' from a previous tech)

ü Tape Tension arms disassembled, cleaned and re-lubed, and their springs adjusted and had fresh 500,000 grade silicone lube gel applied

ü pinch-roller mechanism completely disassembled, cleaned and re-lubed,

ü
 PR mechanism solenoid mounts adjusted

ü Capstans / flywheels removed, bushings and axels cleaned and re-lubed and flywheels burnished

ü Capstan motor pulley burnished

ü Capstans burnished

ü Rubber pinch roller removed and re-conditioned

ü New MAIN drive belt sourced and installed

ü Brand new counter belt installed

ü Heads have been cleaned and de-magnetized as well as the entire transport.

ü Brakes adjusted on fast wind modes also (optimized for 7" & 10.5" tape.)

ü Back tension adjusted on both reel motors.

ü All three motors test perfectly. Following above adjustments, Reel Start and Stop tested at beginning, middle and end of 7" & 10.5" tapes

ü Internal pots, switches and controls cleaned and tested for noise-free function (initially, of course, had typical static / noise which is to be expected in an 'un-serviced' deck after 35+ years).

ü We adjusted the VU meters mechanically and electronically w/ factory test tone tapes, as well as the internal playback levels for both directions independently and record levels.

ü Both spindles in perfect alignment.

ü We also adjusted the reel table heights.

ü Heads in great shape as well, with many years of performance left in them

ü Playback and Record Head alignment / azimuth was adjusted for peak performance with factory test tone tape and oscilloscope.

ü Speed tested to 99.4% accuracy following refurb (meaning that our 'verified' 1000Hz test tape now plays back at 1006Hz).

ü Adjusted to record @ a fairly respectable -7dB @ 1kHz on normal bias tape and ~ -7dB on 'High Bias'

ü Floor noise measured at >-60dB w/ blank tape, L&R

ü This TEAC A-3300SX functions, plays, and records VERY WELL (and we really put them through the paces, testing both with well mixed, recently recorded CD material and CD recorded / factory test tones looking for correct head Azimuth and speed accuracy).  (Total time investment in refurb / testing ~ 14.5 hours).

Face is beautiful, brushed, Stainless Steel and case is in great condition. Only cosmetic issues worth mentioning are 'smuges' on the stainless steel face plate (see photos above). Deck looks and works great!

The TEAC A-3300SX Stereo Reel to Reel tape deck. Ready to GO! This is one of the few reel to reel decks we get in that make it to our finished page. Great performer. If you're looking for a reel to reel deck to "actually use" here you go. Only about 25 % of the used Reel decks out there can be "practically" restored to working order. This one made it through with flying colors after about 14hours of bench time.

As stated earlier we have completely gone through it cleaning heads and all else, lubing, adjusting, reconditioning pinch rollers and other rubber parts, demagnetizing heads and entire transport and testing everything. Tape speed tested and resulted in 99.9% accuracy using a 1000 Hz test tape.

This is a GREAT looking deck and is mounted in the originally, optional, 'REAL WOOD VENEER' side panels.  Again, following above extensive tech work, it works well!!!
All of our restored / refurbished reel to reel decks come with a 7", plastic take-up reel, a 'known good' 7" tape for initial testing of playback, and a 7" tape you can record onto, all to assist you in becoming familiar with the operation / function of your new reel to reel tape deck.
Measures 17.3" wide x 17.3" tall x 8.5" (from tip of back feet-tip of hubs) deep and weighs 45 lbs unpacked. Comes with an 'e-copy' / pdf download of the TEAC TEAC A-3300SX owners / operations manual, service manual and original brochure if purchaser so desires. Includes our standard 30 day limited warranty.
(Reels & tape shown in photos not included. All are sometimes available separately if you need them. We do ship our decks with a plastic take-up reel, a tape to 'practice record' on and a 'pre-recorded' tape for playback.)

Original observations / conditions:
"Basic function intact and seems to be working surprising well for a a typically, un-maintained deck. PR mechanism sluggish. Supply side reel table spindle bent / tweaked. Right side / take-up have deformed tridents which impeded reel mounting. Line pot has bent shaft. Braking too abrupt. Worn tape path pin surfaces. Tape PB Speed slow / sluggish. Typically 'noisy' pots all around. Right channel 'rolled off' sonically. Recording 'fair' at best. PR glazed. Meter levels out of whack. Typical 'deferred maintenance' like most 40 to 50 year old decks."

ü Back tension adjusted on both reel motors.

ü Tape path pins rotated to expose 'fresh' surfaces

ü All three motors test perfectly. Following above adjustments, Reel Start and Stop tested at beginning, middle and end of 7" & 10.5" tapes

SHIPPED TO ROD IN NEW YORK

ü Our technician has completely gone through and 'Certified' this unit.

ü
We have completely and EXTENSIVELY gone through the mechanicals and electronics of this unit (and this was a BIG project to do 'CORRECTLY' as it's a VERY difficult to service deck).

ü Faulty AC Power switch replaced.

ü 'Tape Lifter' mechanism disassembled, cleaned, lubed w/ 'SuperLube', silicone based gel and reassembled.

ü Transport mechanisms disassembled, cleaned, lubed w/ 'SuperLube', silicone based gel and light machine oil as necessary and reassembled including PR Pivot Arm mechanism.

ü Tape Tension arms disassembled, cleaned and re-lubed, and their springs adjusted and had fresh 500,000 grade silicone lube gel applied.

ü Capstan removed, cleaned and burnished

ü Capstan flywheel removed, cleaned bushings and axels cleaned and re-lubed. Flywheel surface burnished.

ü pinch-roller mechanism completely disassembled, cleaned and re-lubed.

ü Rubber pinch rollers removed, re-surfaced, conditioned and re-installed with fresh lubricant.

ü Fresh, new 'Main' / Capstan belt installed as original belt was 'melted' back to goo.

ü Fresh, new counter belt installed.

ü Heads have been cleaned and de-magnetized as well as the entire transport.

ü Brakes adjusted on fast wind modes also (optimized for 7" & 10.5" tape.)

ü Back tension checked / adjusted on both reel motors.

ü All three motors test perfectly. Following above adjustments, Reel Start and Stop tested at beginning, middle and end of 7" & 10.5" tapes (VERY QUICK 'FAST WIND' ON THIS ONE)

ü All 'internal' / PC mounted pots, switches and controls cleaned and tested for noise-free function

ü All 'User' pots, switches and controls cleaned and tested for noise-free function

ü Removed and burnished COMMONLY INTERMITTENT contacts on channel Circuit Boards and re-seated. Adjusted pin contacts for better connections. Was discovered that these connectors was the source of channel intermittence.

ü Hairline fracture in Channel #2 CB trace near input slide switch discovered and repaired. This was causing occasional intermittency in PB signal.

ü All meter lamps replaced w/ LED's. Very Bright! (This is an EXTENSIVE project on the 3440. Tech notes: must be done from rear. ONLY way to access meter for channel #4 is to remove motherboard, and detach bottom pre-amp chassis to allow hardware access. Changing to LED causes 'un-loading' of PB amplitude at pre-amp. Adequate load resistors determined and installed to maintain correct PB output. Required several hours.)

ü All 7 power supply outputs tested and verified at spec from 2.5VAC to 42VAC.

ü Stop switch had 'hairline' fracture in hinge mechanism that required inordinate amount of time to fabricate new one. This is a common issue on the A-3440 that most folks don't realize is wrong...for a while.

ü We adjusted the VU meters mechanically for correct 'resting position' and electronically utilizing "STL" test / alignment tapes, as well as the internal playback and record levels.

ü Both spindles in perfect alignment w/ no 'run-out' at any speed.

ü Both spindle-locks hold tightly.

ü We also checked / adjusted the reel table heights.

ü Heads in great shape as well, with many years of performance left in them

ü Playback and Record Head alignment / azimuth was adjusted for peak performance utilizing "STL" test / alignment tapes and oscilloscope.

ü Speed tested to 100% accuracy following refurb (meaning that our 'verified' 1000Hz test tape now plays back at 1000 +/- 1Hz utilizing "STL" test / alignment tapes).

ü Internal Playback & Record levels adjusted, as well as 'Meter' and 'Bias'

ü Adjusted to record AMAZINGLY WELL at 0dB both with full bandwidth Pink-Noise, then 1kHz test and in 'Real World' use w/ 'mixed DDD CD' signals.

In other words, every combination of transport function was tested and passed.

ü This TEAC A-3440 functions, plays, and records VERY WELL (and we really put them through the paces, testing both with well mixed, recently recorded CD material and CD recorded / factory test tones looking for correct head Azimuth and speed accuracy).  (Total time investment in refurb / testing ~ 60++ hours).

This is an amazing deck for both recording or playback, again of 4-Track Mono / Stereo' or quadraphnic tapes for speeds of 7.5ips or 15ips. Following refurbishment, the deck looks and works great and sounds amazing!!

The VERY sought after and FAMOUS, TEAC A-3440 Multi-Track / Four-Track / Four-Channel...

HEY, WHY ALL THE 'X'd' OUT / OMITTED SPECS AND TEXT?

. Ready to GO! We've had this deck in our warehouse for years, waiting for a 'senior tech' who was qualified to the task of bringing such a deck back to life CORRECTLY. First one of these we've had make it through satisfactorily in 24+ years of dealing in vintage audio.

This is the deck that most folks want for their...

HEY, WHY ALL THE 'X'd' OUT / OMITTED SPECS AND TEXT?

Following our extensive refurb / bench time it's now an AMAZING performer (Check the 'recording test results' above and the 'specs' in text below). If you're looking for a reel to reel deck to "actually use" here you go. Only about 25% of the used Reel decks out there can be "practically" restored to working order. This one made it through with flying colors after about 60++ hours of bench time.

The deck tests great! Cosmetically it's in great condition,
with a few minor chips / dings to the real wood veneer side panels, and a small chip on the head cover, scratch on the main panel, and wear to the left tension arm.  (see separate photo collage above). Functions and sounds great ! Will play up to 10.5" reels.

TEAC A-3440 Features include:

- Multi-Track / 4-Track / 4...

HEY, WHY ALL THE 'X'd' OUT / OMITTED SPECS AND TEXT?

- Accessory connectors for optional TEAC RC-70 Remote control (not included, nor currently available)

As stated earlier we have EXTENSIVELY gone through it cleaning heads and all else, lubing, adjusting, reconditioning pinch rollers and other rubber parts, demagnetizing heads and entire transport and testing everything. Additionally the meter lamps were changed to LED's and multiple repairs completed, some whose symptoms only showed up during our exhaustive testing procedures (may not have shown up on other decks until the user tried the 'magical combination' of functions sometime down the road. Just food for thought on supposedly 'serviced' units).

Tape speed tested and resulted in 100% accuracy using a 1000 Hz test tape. Plays and records Exceptionally well (and we really put them through the paces, testing both with well mixed CD material and CD test tones looking for correct head Azimuth, tape speed accuracy and making test recordings. Again, check the 'test results' listed above). Pinch rollers and heads all in GREAT condition!!!

HEY, WHY ALL THE 'X'd' OUT / OMITTED SPECS AND TEXT?

This is a highly sought after deck and now, following the extensive service, with UNBELIEVABLE PERFORMANCE.
Again, as mentioned earlier, cosmetically it's in good condition, with a few minor chips / dings to the real wood veneer side panels, and a small chip on the head cover, scratch on the main panel, and wear to the left tension arm. (see separate photo collage above).

This was TEACS most asked for 'Musicians' deck, but since it also does standard 'Stereo' playback, Mono and even Quadraphonic (Quadriphonic) playback, it's about as versatile as you can get.
All of our restored / refurbished reel to reel decks come with a 7", plastic take-up reel, a 'known good' 7" tape for initial testing of playback, and a 7" tape you can record onto, all to assist you in becoming familiar with the operation / function of your new reel to reel tape deck.
Comes with an 'e-copy' / pdf download of the TEAC A-3440 owners / operations manual, & service manual if purchaser so desires. Also includes the RCA jumpers for the back panel shown in photos. Measures 17.5" wide x 20.5" tall x 10" (from tip of back feet-tip of hubs) deep and weighs a HEAVY 50+ lbs unpacked. Includes our standard 30 day limited warranty.
(Reels, tape and any NAB hubs shown in photos not included. All are sometimes available separately if you need them. We do ship our decks with a plastic take-up reel, a tape to 'practice record' on and a 'pre-recorded' tape for playback.)

SHIPPED TO NEW YORK

We have completely gone through this unit. Entire transport was disassembled down to the chassis, and every mechanical part was cleaned of all old, varnished grease and oils (as ALL late 60's to mid 70's tape decks need), re-lubed and reassembled. Pinch Roller swing arm removed, disassembled and re-lubed as well as the brake arms, tape tension arms, tape lifter mechanism, tape counter and pretty much anything else that moves. Tape tension magnet reattached. Both brake pads / shoes re-glued. Brakes adjusted on fast wind modes also. Motor 'back tension' resistors adjusted for both directions of play and for both directions of 'fast wind' (checked at multiple points on tape). All three motors re-lubed. All internal pots and controls cleaned and tested for noise-free function. Both spindles in perfect alignment. We also adjusted the reel table heights. Both Main Drive belt and Counter belt have been replaced for years of trouble-free service. Rubber pinch roller has been reconditioned, internal transport cleaned of old grease & re-lubed, capstan burnished, heads have been cleaned and de-magnetized as well as the entire transport. RCA I/O jacks repaired. Record and 'Reverse PB' heads have been replaced with examples offering less wear than originals. Heads in good shape as well, with many hundred hours of performance left in them. Record / playback relay contacts were burnished for signal integrity. Entire head block assembly re-adjusted allowing 'Tape Lift' mechanism to function. Complete head alignment / azimuth has been adjusted w/ dual trace O-scope, and factory test tone tapes for peak performance. Pinch roller and heads all in GREAT condition!!! Line / Microphone input & Playback output input potentiometers cleaned, as well as all switches for static free performance. Both VU meter lamps test fine and power lamp replaced.  Both level meters adjusted for even input, playback and record.
Following refurbishment, on our test bench, this deck measured;
Floor noise tested @ 0mVAC in PB mode w/ output maxed.
Speed checked to 99.7% / 1,000Hz=1,003Hz accuracy.
Plays perfectly and records INCREDIBLY WELL at -0-0.5dB
(and we really put them through the paces, testing both with well mixed, recently recorded CD material and CD recorded / factory test tones looking for correct head Azimuth and speed accuracy).  Transport to Record / PB amp umbilical cables replaced. AC power cable also replaced with a new cord.
(Total time investment in refurb / testing ~ 16 hours). Following mechanical / electronic refurb, entire unit was cosmetically detailed inside and out. Face is made of beautiful brushed Stainless Steel and is dent free and in great condition. Cabinet covered in real Walnut wood veneer, is in great condition and just had a fresh coat of lemon oil. Deck looks and sound great!

ü  Our technician has completely gone through and 'Certified' this unit.

ü  We have completely and extensively gone through the mechanicals and electronics of this unit.

ü  Entire transport was disassembled down to the chassis, and every mechanical part was disassembled, cleaned, re-lubed and reassembled (this is a VERY difficult deck to work on, especially considering any adjustments to the 'top layer', as the face plate has to remain partially attached while working on it (kind of like only being able to lift the hood a few inches on your car to change the plugs)

ü Tape Tension arms disassembled, cleaned and re-lubed, and their springs adjusted and had fresh 500,000 grade silicone lube gel applied

ü pinch-roller mechanism completely disassembled, cleaned and re-lubed,

ü PR mechanism solenoid mounts adjusted

ü Capstans / flywheels removed, bushings and axels cleaned and re-lubed and flywheels burnished (see photos above)

ü Capstans burnished

 ü  Rubber pinch roller re-conditioned

ü  Brand new MAIN drive belt installed

ü  Brand new counter belt installed

ü Heads have been cleaned and de-magnetized as well as the entire transport.

ü Brakes adjusted on fast wind modes also (optimized for 7" tape.)

ü Back tension adjusted on both reel motors.

ü All three motors test perfectly. Following above adjustments, Reel Start and Stop tested at beginning, middle and end of 7" tapes

ü Internal pots, switches and controls cleaned and tested for noise-free function (initially, of course, had typical static / noise which is to be expected in an 'un-serviced' deck after 35+ years).

ü We adjusted the VU meters mechanically and electronically w/ factory test tone tapes, as well as the internal playback levels for both directions independently and record levels.

ü Both spindles in perfect alignment.

ü We also adjusted the reel table heights.

ü Heads in great shape as well, with many years of performance left in them.

ü  BOTH direction Playback and Record Head alignment / azimuth was adjusted for peak performance with factory test tone tape and oscilloscope.

ü Speed tested to 99.7% accuracy following refurb (meaning that our 'verified' 1000Hz test tape now plays back at 1003Hz).

ü Adjusted to record a @ -3dB @ 1kHz on normal bias tape. In a 'real world' recording situation, we experienced an average of -5dB with 'High Bias' tape (trying 4-5 types)

ü Floor noise measured at >-60dB w/ blank tape, L&R

ü This Teac A-4300SX functions, plays, and records VERY WELL (and we really put them through the paces, testing both with well mixed, recently recorded CD material and CD recorded / factory test tones looking for correct head Azimuth and speed accuracy).  (Total time investment in refurb / testing ~ 11.5 hours).

Face is beautiful, brushed, Stainless Steel and case is in great condition. Deck looks NEW and works great!

The Teac A-4300SX Stereo Reel to Reel tape deck. Ready to GO! This is one of the few reel to reel decks we get in that make it to our finished page. Great performer. If you're looking for a reel to reel deck to "actually use" here you go. Only about 25 % of the used Reel decks out there can be "practically" restored to working order. This one made it through with flying colors after about 11.5 hours of bench time.

The deck tests great! Looks and sounds great too! We have completely gone through it. Will play 3", 5" & 7" reels.

Teac A-4300SX Features include:

HEY, WHY ALL THE 'X'd' OUT / OMITTED SPECS AND TEXT?

As stated earlier we have completely gone through it cleaning heads and all else, lubing, adjusting, reconditioning pinch rollers and other rubber parts, demagnetizing heads and entire transport and testing everything. Tape speed tested and resulted in 99.7% accuracy using a 1000 Hz test tape. Unit looks GREAT!

ü Our technician has completely gone through and 'Certified' this unit.

ü We have completely and extensively gone through the mechanicals and electronics of this unit.

ü Entire transport was disassembled down to the chassis, and every mechanical part was disassembled, cleaned, re-lubed and reassembled including; Both Tape Lifters, Pinch Roller Pivot Arm, EOT Sensor Arm, Left Tape Tension arm mechanism, Capstan Motor (clean and re-lube), Capstan and flywheel shaft removed cleaned / re-lubed (pretty much every moving part)

ü Tape Tension arms disassembled, cleaned and re-lubed, and their springs adjusted

ü Removed 4 shims to correct take-up reel table height to eliminate reel, rim scrape.

ü pinch-roller 'arm' mechanism completely disassembled, cleaned and re-lubed

ü Capstan / flywheel removed, bushings and axles cleaned and re-lubed and flywheels burnished

ü Capstan motor pulley burnished

ü Capstan burnished

ü Rubber pinch roller removed and re-conditioned

ü New MAIN drive belt, #FR13.4 installed

ü Brand new counter belt, #153 installed

ü Heads have been cleaned and de-magnetized as well as the entire transport.

ü Brakes adjusted on fast wind modes at ALL points thru a tape. It's a fine line between having the brakes actuate with too much tension, 'abruptly' stopping the tape (risking stretching / breaking of tape) or too loose (allows tape to 'dump'). (VERY difficult to do on this series). Brakes optimized for 7" reels.

ü Back tension adjusted on both reel motors.

ü All three motors test perfectly. Following above adjustments, Reel Start and Stop tested at beginning, middle and end of 7" reels.

ü Internal pots, switches and controls cleaned and tested for noise-free function (initially, of course, had typical static / noise which is to be expected in an 'un-serviced' deck after 35+ years).

ü External / User adjustable pots, switches and controls cleaned on the playback / record amp and tested for noise-free function

ü Following it's initial refurb, we were not able to get the internal Record Level to record at "zero dB" without having the internal PC mounted pots maxed, and the 'Input Level' pot maxed. We had another AR-60 PB / REC amp section at the shop, swapped it in, did all the calibration steps again, and it worked great (Just FYI; the "AR-60" is the entire bottom third section of the deck. Yes, that 'chewed-up' a potentially valuable electronic part, but was the only 'practical' way we could get the deck to our level of standards.
- YES, we're that thorough and committed, which should tell you a lot about purchasing a 40 year old R2R from 'just anybody'. -

ü Replaced one VU meter

ü Checked / replaced VU meter lamps / bulbs

ü We adjusted the VU meters mechanically and electronically w/ factory test tone tapes, as well as the internal playback levels for both directions independently and record levels (required changing out one of the meters, for another OEM unit).

ü We adjusted the output, 'Minimum Input', 'Specified Input', 'Record Level' and 'Bias' all to spec, then further adjusted 'Bias' for Ampex GM-456

ü Both spindles in perfect alignment.

ü Heads in great shape as well, with many years of performance left in them

ü Playback and Record Head alignment / azimuth was adjusted for peak performance with factory test tone tape and oscilloscope.

ü Speed tested to 99.3% accuracy following refurb (meaning that our 'verified' 1000Hz test tape now plays back at 993Hz).

ü Adjusted to record VERY WELL. Biased for Ampex GM 456 studio tape with the following results w/ Output control ~"2:00 PM":
1kHz recorded @ 0dB resulted in PB @ 0dB
10kHz recorded @ 0dB resulted in PB @ +3dB
15kHz recorded @ 0dB resulted in PB @ 0dB
17.5kHz recorded @ 0dB resulted in PB @ -6dB

ü 'Real World, DDD CD recorded actually seems to have better 'top end' than the original w/ GM456. Tech notes;
"this thing records amazingly well!!!".

ü Floor noise measured at >-60dB w/ blank tape, L&R

ü This TEAC A-6010 functions, plays, and records VERY WELL (and we really put them through the paces, testing both with well mixed, recently recorded CD material and CD recorded / factory test tones looking for correct head Azimuth and speed accuracy).  (Total time investment in refurb process / and final testing ~ 30 hours).

Face is beautiful, brushed, Stainless Steel and case is in great condition. Deck looks near new and works great!

Looks great & "Ready-to-go"  TEAC -6010 Stereo Reel to Reel tape deck. These were later, bigger brother to the A-4010, probably the most sold R2R ever made by anybody. Just about everyone that was stationed overseas in the military during Viet Nam came back with an A-4010. The fortunate few came back with the A-6010 (a few 'better specs'). The "A-6010" was included in TEAC's 'Professional Line'. Unfortunately of course, 40 years has not been kind to Teac Reel decks (or any electro-mechanical devices that are 20 years old or older). The internal lubes were never meant to last that long, certainly without maintenance, and 'rubber' doesn't 'age well' either, thus requiring the above stated work. Ready to go now. Will play & Record stereo 1/4" tapes on reels up to 7". This is one of the few reel to reel decks we get in that make it to our finished page. If you're looking for a reel to reel deck to "actually use" then here you go. Only about 25% of the used Reel decks out there can be "practically" restored to working order. This one made it through. Playback & transport functions test great and records well! Looks and sounds great too!

HEY, WHY ALL THE 'X'd' OUT / OMITTED SPECS AND TEXT?

This is only the second Teac A-6010 we have had in ~24 years. Great machine for playback / archiving your tapes to CD or Hard Drive or for recording new tapes. This is a beautiful deck. Performs incredibly well following refurbishing. With the exception of the above mentioned 'dings' on the wood housing it's all including the face, knobs, covers and all cosmetics fabulous! Measures 17.5" wide x 20.78" tall x 8.25" (from tip of back feet-tip of hubs) deep and weighs 52 lbs unpacked. Includes a set of 'fresh' spindle stoppers / reel clamps. Comes with a pdf 'e' copy of TEAC A-4010S owners manual and schematic (same unit with slightly lower specs). Can include the TEAC A-6010 Service Manual pdf 'e' download if you wish as well. Includes our standard 30 day limited warranty.

ü Following it's initial refurb, we discovered that it was recording about 6dB down on one channel, and would intermittently have distortion on playback of one side (rarely, but would happen if you listened long enough). Our technician has EXTENSIVELY gone through and 'Certified' this unit.

ü
We have completely and extensively gone through the mechanicals and electronics of this unit.

ü Entire transport was disassembled down to the chassis, and every 'moving' mechanical part was cleaned, re-lubed and reassembled.

ü Tape Lifters’ completely disassembled, cleaned and re-lubed

ü Tape Lifters & Guide pins rotated 180 degrees to expose original, factory surface to tape (won't scratch surface of tape like worn pins will)

ü Head block removed, burnished and de-mag'd

ü Pinch-roller ‘Lift Mechanism’ completely disassembled, cleaned and re-lubed

ü E.O.T. arm completely disassembled, cleaned and re-lubed

ü PR mechanism solenoid mounts adjusted

ü Capstans / flywheels removed, bushings and axels cleaned and re-lubed

ü Capstans burnished

ü Rubber pinch roller reconditioned on lathe then cleaned with Rubber Re'nue

ü Brand new, FRM14.4 MAIN drive belt installed

ü Brand new, #050 counter belt installed

ü Heads have been cleaned and de-magnetized as well as the entire transport.

ü Power supply CB checked, adjusted and verified to correct VDC which enables proper and certainly best performance from Cap motor, Playback and Record amp circuits

ü *Back tension adjusted via VR 18 and VR 19 A&B on both reel motors w/ vertical gram scale. * While we checked and adjusted where necessary, the back tension on the reel motors, we were only able to get 10.5" reels to play in reverse adequately with the "Reel Size" selector set for "small reels" ("small" position adds more reverse voltage to supply motor, thus reducing the chance of the tape 'walking' off the pinch roller edge).

ü Reel motor start / run capacitors healthy

ü 5.0 hours; Capstan motor removed, disassembled, cleaned, installed new foam lube retainers and lubed with 30W (no, simply adding oil to the oil tubes does not work nor quiet down a motor after 40 years. It has to be disassembled). Runs quiet now.

ü All three motors test perfectly. Following above adjustments, Reel Start and Stop tested at beginning, middle and end of 7" and 10.5" tapes

ü Brakes adjusted on fast wind modes on both 7.5” and fully loaded 10.5” reels from top speed, with tape at 95% either side

ü Both spindles now in perfect alignment.

ü We also adjusted the reel table heights.

ü Internal pots, switches and controls cleaned and tested for noise-free function.

ü 13.0 hours; EXTENSIVELY (about 13 hours on this step alone) spent time on calibrating internal levels for Line Input, Playback Levels, Meter Levels (both mechanically and electronically), Record Levels, Record Bias and EQ for using Ampex GM456 and Maxell 35-90 UD tape. (BTW: if you're ever working on an "A-6300", the original service manual does not give you your starting point for "input" calibration, and you'll need to get that from the SM for the TEAC A-2340R or other deck that includes. We had to research many service manuals to get the information to start correctly)

ü Heads have no appreciable wear.

ü 4.5 Hours: BOTH direction Playback and Record Head alignment / azimuth was adjusted for peak performance with factory test tone tape and oscilloscope.

ü Recording tests performed with Ampex GM456 and Maxell UD (Gold / Black) Tapes.
Here’s the results;

GM 456 @ 7.5ips. White Noise @ 0dB = -5dB L & -1.5dB R with minor artifacts
GM 456 @ 7.5ips. 1kHz @ 0dB = -5dB L & -1.5dB R with minor artifacts
GM 456 @ 7.5ips. White Noise @ -10dB = -10 (zero dB loss) dB L & R with minor artifacts
GM 456 @ 7.5ips. Recorded program from "ddd" source @ 0dB sounds great. Tape is actually a bit 'punchier' then source and brighter (in a good way)

ü Floor noise measured at -56 dBV

ü Unit painstakingly detailed cosmetically. Face removed and re-burnished, then cleaned with cleaning wax.

ü Veneer chips repaired to walnut side panels and oiled with Lemon oil.

ü New felt added to bottom edges of walnut side panels

ü This TEAC A-6300 functions, plays, and records VERY WELL (and we really put them through the paces, testing both with well mixed, recently recorded CD material and CD recorded / factory test tones looking for correct head Azimuth and speed accuracy).  (Total time investment in refurb / testing ~ 34.5+ hours).

ü Face is made of beautiful brushed Stainless Steel. Deck looks and following it's extensive service, now works great!

Looks GREAT & is "Ready-to-go"! This is the firstTEAC A-6300 Stereo Reel to Reel tape deck we ever had in over two and a half decades. Will play / record stereo 1/4" tapes on reels 5, 7 & 10.5". This is one of the few reel to reel decks we get in that make it to our finished page. Great performer. This one made it through and all
* functions test great! If you're looking for a reel to reel deck to "actually use" here you go. Only about 30-50% of the used Reel decks out there can be "practically" restored to working order. Heads have no appreciable, visible wear, check the record test results above, evidence they’re in fine shape! Following extensive service and alignment, both mechanically and electronically, recordings sound FANTASTIC on this unit now. Looks and sounds great too!
Again, we have completely gone through it and it's ready to go!

ü Our technician has completely and EXTENSIVELY gone through and 'Certified' this unit which involves complete removal and disassembly of the entire transport, cleaning inside and out, DISASSEMBLING, cleaning and re-lubricating all internal mechanisms and the balance of efforts listed below.

ü Heads inspected for excessive wear (obviously we do this 'early on' as 'excessive' wear will usually negate any further restoration work). These have virtually NO visible wear to them.

ü Capstan motor spindle bushing re-lubed

ü Capstan burnished

ü Internal DC power supply tested

ü 2X NEW, Custom crafted / modified, 'reel drive' installed for years of trouble-free service. (These are actually much more important to replace on this deck (and most) than the belts. Without these, the deck won't fast wind very well, and will likely 'eat tapes' as the 'take-up' reel won't turn properly)

ü All new internal Drive and Counter belts installed for trouble-free service.

ü Rubber pinch rollers have been reconditioned

ü Both Flywheel 'belt surfaces' solvent cleaned

ü Bronze Flywheel bushings solvent cleaned

ü Both Flywheel thrust pads cleaned

ü Entire flywheel assemblies re-lubed upon re-assembly

ü Heads have been cleaned and de-magnetized as well as the entire transport.

ü New Tape well lamp installed.

ü Head alignments and azimuth at 125Hz, 1kHz and 10kHz adjusted for 'peak performance' with O-Scope and original TEAC alignment tape

ü All internal pots, switches and controls cleaned and tested for noise-free function.

ü Both spindles in perfect alignment.

ü FF, REW, & Play transport functions all test perfectly and controls tested for 'positive / accurate' responsive.

ü 'Silicone Damped' Eject door operates smoothly.

ü Tape Counter Function tested

ü Dolby NR circuits / function tested

ü 'Memory / Zero Return' function tested

ü Heads are in great condition

ü Internal playback levels adjusted for even playback w/ alignment tape, Oscilloscope, and mVAC meter

ü Playback meters adjusted for 'playback' zero'd with factory test tone tape.

ü Internal Record amplifier channels adjusted for 'even output'

ü Pinch roller and heads all in GREAT condition!!!

ü Overall floor noise measured at >-60dB.

üSpeed adjusted internally to 100% accuracy BOTH directions, with 1kHz factory calibration tape and frequency counter (meaning 1kHz calibration tape plays back at 1000Hz +/- 2Hz)

ü Plays great and after adjustment, records AMAZINGLY well w/ following results;
With Pink Noise recorded at 0dB w/o Dolby engaged; -0dB on Maxell UDXL-II / High Bias tapes

Bottom line is this deck sounds amazing for playback or recording (always make sure you're playing back 'good quality' tape recordings)
Total technician time to restore 15+ HOURS!

Makes fabulous recordings. Also great for transferring your no NR or Dolby B NR encoded tape collection to CD, Hard-drive or MP3 especially with the 'Tape EQ' selector for 'fine tuning' older tapes. Built very well! Looks like new, works perfectly and sounds fabulous. Due to it's size, overall feel, the 'input controls' and the 'transport control' this deck really is a blast to use. Original issues observed (mostly the issues common with all 40 year old tape decks):
"No play movement due to perished drive belt, so due to that, unable to test further until that was addressed"

ü Our technician has completely and EXTENSIVELY gone through and 'Certified' this unit which involves total disassembly of the transport, cleaning inside and out, COMPLETELY DISASSEMBLING, cleaning and re-lubricating all internal mechanisms and the balance of efforts listed below.

ü Heads inspected for excessive wear (obviously we do this 'early on' as 'excessive' wear will usually negate any further restoration work).

ü Counter belt - NO counter belt. It's GEAR DRIVEN!!!

ü Main Capstan / Flywheel belt reconditioned.

ü Main pulley end bushing lubed.

ü Rubber pinch roller mechanism bushings & axles cleaned of old lube, reconditioned and re-lubed.

ü Capstans cleaned / burnished

ü All internal pots, switches and controls cleaned and tested for noise-free function. (Pre/Post and Tape/Source switches required disassembly and removal of front fluorescent display to access for cleaning. This step alone took 2 hours)

ü All Fluorescent displays and LED's working fine.

ü Both hub spindles in perfect alignment

ü FF, REW, & Play transport functions all test perfectly and controls tested for 'positive / accurate' responsive.

ü Heads in great shape as well, with many years of performance left in them

ü Heads have been cleaned and de-magnetized as well as the entire transport.

ü Head alignment and azimuth at 125Hz, 1kHz and 10kHz adjusted for BOTH directions for 'peak performance' with O-Scope and w/ STL and TEAC MTT-257H calibration / alignment tapes. Both channels now even output.

ü Both Internal playback amplifier channels adjusted with Volt meter, O-Scope and w/ STL and TEAC MTT-257H calibration / alignment tapes. Both channels now even output.

ü Meters adjusted to even zero with symmetric input with Volt meter, O-Scope and w/ STL and TEAC MTT-257H calibration / alignment tapes. Both channels now even output.

ü Both Internal Record amplifier channels adjusted with Volt meter, O-Scope and sine-wave generators and 'pink / white noise sources'. Both channels now even output.

ü Pinch roller and heads all in GREAT condition!!!

ü Speed adjusted to 100% accuracy BOTH directions, with with TEAC MTT-257H 1kHz factory calibration tape (meaning 1kHz calibration tape plays back at 1000Hz +/- 1 Hz. The service manual allows for an error range of +/- 23Hz! Yuck!!!)

ü Pinch roller re-surfaced, and in GREAT condition!!!

ü Playback meters zero with factory test tone tape.

ü Tape Counter and 'Memory' Function tested

ü Tape well door needed 'hinge' mechanism work

ü Speed adjusted internally to 100% accuracy with 1kHz factory test tape (meaning 1kHz calibration tape plays back at 1000Hz +/- 1Hz) (utilized TEAC MTT-257H)

ü Floor noise measured at -74dBu

Following service / fine tuning;

ü Recording tests performed with Maxell High-Bias UDXL-II (Gold / Black) Tapes.
Here’s the results;

Maxell UDXL-II: 1KhZ with No NR @ 0dB; L= 0dB & R= 0dB R with virtually no artifacts
Maxell UDXL-II: PN with No NR @ 0dB; L= -1dB & R= -1dB R
Recorded program from "ddd" source @ 0dB sounds great as well. It's nice recording on a deck that's 'dialed in' properly)

Following restoration, during one of our extensive 'post tests' we discovered that the deck was not erasing consistently. We eventually discovered that the erase head had it's own mechanism to move it, which was an originally 'lubricated' parts. Well, just as all 30+ year old lube gels and stiffens up, so had that. We then disassembled the erase head pivot arm, solvent cleaned it, lubricated it and re-assembled mechanism. Worked as intended then. This process alone added 2.5 hours to restoration. This was a mechanism somewhat different than we come across in most decks.

Total technician time to restore ~
15.5 HOURS!

ü FF, REW, & Play transport functions all test perfectly and controls tested for 'positive / accurate' responsive.

ü Eject door operates smoothly (Eject switch requires 'pressure' on 'lower edge' to engage).

ü 'Tape Motion / Counter Sensor' lamp' replaced (otherwise transport will stop after a few seconds if this is not functioning)

ü Meters adjusted to even zero with symmetric input.

ü Speed adjusted to 100% accuracy with 1kHz factory calibration tape (meaning 1kHz calibration tape plays back at 1000Hz +/- 1Hz)

ü Tape Counter Function tested

ü Dolby B, C and dbx NR circuits tested

ü 'Memory / Zero Return' function tested

ü Heads are in 'AS-NEW' condition, with NO visible wear!

ü Pinch roller and heads all in GREAT condition!!!

ü Floor noise measured at -60dB

ü Cosmetics are in essentially NEW condition. Deck works, sounds and looks great!

ü Plays perfectly and after our adjustment, records AMAZINGLY well at overall ~ -2.5-3 dB! on High bias type tapes using Pink Noise and DDD CD material (Following the extensive restoration, we did 'test recordings' of a 'DDD' CD on 6 tapes; Sony Normal Bias, Fuji Normal Bias, TDK Normal Bias, Maxell Normal Bias, TDK 'SA' High Bias, and Maxell 'XL-II' High Bias. We found that for Normal and High Bias, of those tapes tested, both the TDK and "Maxells" performed VERY well on this particular deck. Both the Maxell's and the TDK's able to 'over saturate' on the levels. This deck sounded very good, regardless of the NR type selected (ie; No NR, Dolby B, Dolby C or dbx (my personal favorite for over 30 years). In fact, we were able to push the record levels to more than +10dB, not only with dbx (as you should be able to), but on Dolby C and Dolby B!
Total technician time to restore ~16.5 HOURS!

ü Our technician has completely and EXTENSIVELY gone through and 'Certified' this unit which involves removal / disassembly of the transport, cleaning inside and out, removal / disassembly of the transport, cleaning and re-lubricating all internal mechanisms and the balance of efforts listed below.

ü Heads inspected for excessive wear (obviously we do this 'early on' as 'excessive' wear will usually negate any further restoration work).

ü Discovered loose ground in power supply PCB causing later difficulty in adjusting levels and causing intermittent noise when deck was moved around

ü Adjusted internal power supply from 11.61 to 12.0VDC

ü Counter belt - NO counter belt. It's *GEAR DRIVEN!!! (means no counter belt and MOST importantly, NO idler tire(s) to worry about. That's a BIG deal!)

ü Capstans cleaned / burnished

ü Main Capstan / Flywheel belt replaced originally with #FRM10.2, then found deck performed better regarding speed accuracy and Flutter with #10.7 belt.

ü Main pulley end bushing lubed.

ü Rubber pinch roller mechanism bushings & axles cleaned of old, stiff lube, reconditioned and re-lubed.

ü All internal pots, switches and controls cleaned and tested for noise-free function.

Both channels now even output.

ü Pinch roller and heads all in GREAT condition!!!

ü Speed adjusted to 99.7% accuracy BOTH directions, with with TEAC MTT-257H 1kHz factory calibration tape (meaning 1kHz calibration tape plays back at 1003Hz +/- 1 Hz. The service manual allows for an error range of +/- 23Hz! Yuck!!!)

ü Pinch roller re-surfaced, and in GREAT condition!!!

ü Playback meters zero with factory test tone tape.

ü Tape Counter and 'Memory' Function tested

ü Floor noise measured at -69dBm

Following service / fine tuning;

ü Recording tests performed with Maxell High-Bias UDXL-II (Gold / Black) Tapes w/ output set to ~2:00 PM.
Here’s the results;
Maxell UDXL-II: 1KhZ with No NR @ +2dB; L= 0dB & R= 0dB R with virtually no artifacts
Maxell UDXL-II: 1KhZ with Dolby B NR @ +2dB; L= 0dB & R= 0dB R
Maxell UDXL-II: 1KhZ with Dolby C NR @ +2dB; L= 0dB & R= 0dB R
Maxell UDXL-II: 1KhZ with dbx NR @ +7dB; L= +5dB & R= +5dB R
Maxell UDXL-II: PN with No NR @ 0dB; L= -1dB & R= -1dB R
Recorded program from "ddd" source sounds great as well:
@ +2dB; L= +2dB & R= +2dB R
with dbx NR @ +7dB; L= +7dB & R= +7dB R
It's nice recording on a deck that's 'dialed in' properly!

We commonly will not give a "dubbing" / dual well cassette deck a second look as there weren't many that were not simply two cheap decks in one box. I KNOW, as I have sold hundreds of them when new by just about every brand. I always tried to persuade anyone looking for a "real" deck, to generally avoid them and just get a good, single play deck or two single play decks. "Dubbing" decks, as a general rule just didn't have quality transports or decent specs. There were, however a handful of exceptions that combined the convenience of a dubbing deck, with quality and we have posted a few with our high quality single well decks! This Teac W-6000R is...

This TEAC W-6000R would be perfect for the project studio as a mastering deck or home audio system use. Especially for a "project studio" as the "Tape Mix" control practically turns it into an "all in one" studio. It allows a mix in any combination of a tape in well "1", the microphones and a Line-In signal to be recorded onto a tape in well "2". Also great for transferring your tape collection to CD, Hard-drive or MP3.  Built very well! Looks like new and sounds great. Deck includes a copy of original Teac W-6000R owners manual. 6-HEAD / 3-MOTOR
AUTO-REVERSE
REEL TO REEL
1/4" TAPE DECK
"
WORLD AC POWER"
SOLD 12/2/16
SHIPPED TO TORONTO, CANADA

ü  Our technician has completely gone through and 'Certified' this unit.
(in-fact we had both of our Senior Techs go thru it, one after the other, just to make sure we had 'all the "i's" dotted and all the "T's" crossed)

ü  We have completely and extensively gone through the mechanicals and electronics of this unit.

ü  Entire transport was disassembled down to the chassis, and every mechanical part was disassembled, cleaned, re-lubed and reassembled (this is a VERY difficult deck to work on, especially considering any adjustments to the 'top layer', as the face plate has to remain partially attached while working on it (kind of like only being able to lift the hood a few inches on your car to change the plugs)

ü Tape Tension arms disassembled, cleaned and re-lubed, and their springs adjusted and had fresh 500,000 grade silicone lube gel applied to the Kevlar strings

ü pinch-roller mechanism completely disassembled, cleaned and re-lubed,

ü PR mechanism solenoid mounts adjusted

ü Capstans / flywheels removed, bushings and axels cleaned and re-lubed

ü Capstans burnished

ü  Rubber pinch rollers have been cleaned and re-conditioned

ü  Brand new MAIN drive belt installed

ü  Brand new counter belt installed

ü Heads have been cleaned and de-magnetized as well as the entire transport.

ü Brakes adjusted on fast wind modes also (optimized for 7" tape. 5" tape will work, but will 'dump' slightly when fast winding to a complete stop)

ü Back tension adjusted on both reel motors.

ü All three motors test perfectly. Following above adjustments, Reel Start and Stop tested at beginning, middle and end of 7" tapes

ü Internal pots, switches and controls cleaned and tested for noise-free function.

ü Sheared 'Mic Input' potentiometer replaced with OEM unit

ü Replaced bent Auto Reverse contact spring

ü New Meter lamps / bulbs installed (originals still worked, but preventative maintenance)

ü We adjusted the VU meters mechanically and electronically w/ factory test tone tapes, as well as the internal playback levels for both directions independently and record levels.

ü Deck has been fully calibrated to factory manual specs, tested, and found to perform like new in all categories

ü Both spindles in perfect alignment.

ü We also adjusted the reel table heights.

ü Heads in great shape as well, with many years of performance left in them.

ü  BOTH direction Playback and Record Head alignment / azimuth was adjusted for peak performance with factory test tone tape and oscilloscope.

ü Both internal speed pots adjusted to 100% accuracy on either speed independently (with pitch control zero'd) (meaning that our 'verified' 1000Hz test tape now plays back at 1000Hz).

ü We Adjusted to record at +/-0dB on High Bias Chrome tape at 1kHz and -3dB @ 15kHz and on normal records at 0dB @ 1kHz and -8dB at 15kHz (in other words, it records VERY well)

ü Floor noise measured at <1mv w/ blank tape, L&R

ü This TEAC X-7R functions, plays, and records perfectly (and we really put them through the paces, testing both with well mixed, recently recorded CD material and CD recorded / factory test tones looking for correct head Azimuth and speed accuracy).  (Total time investment in refurb / testing ~ 19 hours between the two techs).

Face is beautiful, beige anodized, aluminum and case is in great condition. Deck looks NEW and works great!

The TEAC X-7R Stereo Reel to Reel tape deck. Ready to GO! This is one of the few reel to reel decks we get in that make it to our finished page. Great performer. If you're looking for a reel to reel deck to "actually use" here you go. Only about 30-50% of the used Reel decks out there can be "practically" restored to working order. This one made it through with flying colors after about 19 hours of bench time.

The deck tests great! Looks and sounds great too! We have completely gone through it. Will play 3", 5" & 7" reels (again, we optimized the braking for 7" reels).

TEAC X-7R Features include:

HEY, WHY ALL THE 'X'd' OUT / OMITTED SPECS AND TEXT?

As stated earlier we have completely gone through it cleaning heads and all else, lubing, adjusting, reconditioning pinch rollers and other rubber parts, demagnetizing heads and entire transport and testing everything. Tape speed in both Hi and Lo speed positions have been 'internally' adjusted to 100%, "Dead-On" accuracy using a 1000 Hz test tape for the pitch control in it's 'centered' position. Plays and records Exceptionally well (and we really put them through the paces, testing both with well mixed CD material and CD test tones looking for correct head Azimuth, tape speed accuracy and making test recordings). Pinch rollers and heads all in GREAT condition!!! Face is made of ...

This is a GREAT looking deck and is mounted in the originally, optional, wood grain, vinyl wrapped case. Case does have a few 'edge dings', a couple of which are decent (see photos above). Deck was also capable of being rack mounted with optional (but not avail from us) rack mounts. Again, following above extensive tech work, it works fabulously!!!
All of our restored / refurbished reel to reel decks come with a 7", plastic take-up reel, a 'known good' 7" tape for initial testing of playback, and a 7" tape you can record onto, all to assist you in becoming familiar with the operation / function of your new reel to reel tape deck.
Measures 17" wide x 14.5" tall x 10.25" (from tip of back feet-tip of hubs) deep and weighs 40 lbs unpacked. Comes with an 'e-copy' / pdf download of the TEAC X-7R owners / operations manual and service manual if purchaser so desires. Includes our standard 30 day limited warranty.

ü Both internal speed pots adjusted to 100% accuracy on either speed independently (with pitch control zero'd) (meaning that our 'verified' 1000Hz test tape now plays back at 1000Hz).

ü Following service work, it Records at +/-0dB on High Bias Chrome tape at 1kHz.

ü This TEAC X-1000R-EE functions, plays, and records perfectly (and we really put them through the paces, testing both with well mixed, recently recorded CD material and CD recorded / factory test tones looking for correct head Azimuth and speed accuracy).  (Total time investment in refurb / testing ~ 18 hours).

Face is made of beautiful brushed aluminum and case is in great condition. Deck looks NEW and works great!

This is one of my personal favorites! The TEAC X-1000R Stereo Reel to Reel tape deck. Ready to GO! This is one of the few reel to reel decks we get in that make it to our finished page. Great performer. If you're looking for a reel to reel deck to "actually use" here you go. Only about 25 % of the used Reel decks out there can be "practically" restored to working order. This one made it through with flying colors.

The deck tests great! Looks and sounds great too! We have completely gone through it. Will play 3", 5", 7" & 10.5" reels (10.5" reels require optional NAB hub adaptors that we generally have available at their additional cost).

TEAC X-1000R-EE Features include:

HEY, WHY ALL THE 'X'd' OUT / OMITTED SPECS AND TEXT?

- True
“WORLD AC POWER" as it will work on both 50 or 60 Hz AC and voltages from 110-240 Volts AC

Face is made of beautiful, black anodized, brushed Aluminum and looks very nice. Very clean and looks near new. Unit looks GREAT!

We will be getting more machines ready over the next few days to a couple weeks, but it is a slow process, as every 20+ year old Reel to Reel tape deck requires 10-18 hours of service to be brought back to "usable" condition. Check back often as they will sell out quickly!
