We fully test each projector offered for sale. We use film that is in good shape, with sprocket holes that are not worn. Each projector is checked for belt / drive condition, frame sync, lamp(s) condition, switching condition, focus, Sound quality (where applicable), AC safety, excess transport noise and overall function. Each is cleaned and lubed where necessary. Projector should be "ready to go" when you receive it, however film projectors are complicated machines and film can be very fragile, especially older film (and most of it is). Always check your films sprocket holes for quality. Worn sprocket holes will cause problems when playing back. The problems may only last a frame or can last seconds. Also double check the loading and always go slow as that is when most problems happen. While our projectors are warranted for their basic function, we cannot guarantee that you will always get glitch free viewing and that films will not break and be "eaten", especially during the loading process. I doesn't happen often, in fact rarely, but we all remember watching school films and the teacher having to stop and splice, rewind or further adjust the film and projector to continue.

One of the most well designed 8mm projectors we have worked on. Considerably different than most of the rest of the 300 & 400 series projectors. Not only does it also have variable speed, but it uses an ingenious "torque converter" mechanism to do adjust it. B&H 358S Super-8mm movie film / cine projector. Runs and works well certainly as a silent projector. *It does feature a sound pickup system for magnetic sound strips, but due to the other equipment needed to utilize that function, we did no restoration work on that aspect. Features Auto-Loading for film that does not use the rubber wheel like some other B&H that almost always deteriorates. Easy to use. Lens is an "Increlite" and specs as follows: f=/1.6. Auto film loading that works and does not "eat" every other roll of film like many "auto-loaders". Will play forwards or backward, with or without the lamp. Has frame-adjust knob for fine tuning frame size. Utilizes model DJL 120 volt, 150 watt projection lamp. Front adjustment foot allows for ~1.5" of height angle adjustment. Built-in film trimmer. Very well built all metal construction. We have completely checked out all functions and made any necessary adjustments. We completely disassembled, cleaned and lubed the internal drive assembly gears. Main drive belt replaced and internal drive wheels reconditioned for years of trouble-free service. Entire projector has been cleaned inside and out! Film fast wind clutches adjusted and work perfectly! Plays well. Looks great! Again this is one of the "smartest designed" projectors to use we have seen due to the "torque converter". Great for doing "Super 8mm" film to video transfers!  Comes with metal take-up reel that stores in front cover and an extra projection lamp. Also includes our standard 90 day limited warranty (excluding lamps / bulbs). Measures 11.25" long x 8.5" deep x 11" tall (with film arms folded) and weighs 19 lbs unpacked. Lens is a Bell & Howell "Proval" model, and specs as follows: f=/1.6, & 23mm. Auto film loading that works and does not "eat" every other roll of film like many "auto-loaders". Will play forwards or backward, with or without the lamp. Has frame-adjust knob for fine tuning frame size. Utilizes model DLS 22 volt, 150 watt projection lamp. Front adjustment foot allows for ~1.5" of height angle adjustment. Built-in film trimmer. Very well built all metal construction. We have completely gone through this projector. Both hub clutches had the shafts pulled, cleaned and re-lubed (prior to that they are almost always frozen due to "varnished" lube). This particular model utilizes "coil spring" clutches which is about the best design and virtually trouble-free with their fresh cleaning and lube. We also disassembled the reel arms completely, cleaned and re-lubed all the gears. We checked out all functions and made any necessary adjustments and lubed internal drive assembly including all internal drive gears with silicon lube. Main drive belt replaced for years of trouble-free service. Entire projector has been cleaned inside and out! Plays well. Looks great! Great for doing Standard 8mm film to video transfers! Comes with metal take-up reel that stores in front cover and a NEW projection lamp already installed! Also includes our standard 90 day limited warranty (excluding lamps / bulbs). Will allow projections speed of either 18 or 24 frames per second, but we have modified it and installed "speed control" pots on each of the projection speeds, for "flicker-free" film to video transfers. Very well built machine. Both main drive belt and reel drive belts replaced with new units for years of trouble-free service. We have completely checked out all functions and made any necessary adjustments and this unit is ready to go. Looks and works great! Comes with auto-grabbing take-up reel and a copy of the owners / users manual (this one actually includes the original box, packing and original voice=over microphone!). Another great performing, Dual-8 projector. The GAF 888Z Regular-Standard 8mm / Super-8mm silent movie film / cine projector. Runs and works very well. Will play Regular & Super-8mm films. Projects silent film at 18fps Runs and works well. Features very easy Auto-Loading for film. Very easy to use and works very well. For forward direction play. Has frame-adjust knob for fine tuning frame size. Also has built-in film trimmer. Utilizes model DGB / DMD 30 volt, 80 watt projection lamp. Front adjustment foot allows for ~1" of height angle adjustment. The only issue is that we do not have the original front cover / lid. We will still include a take-up reel. We have completely checked out all functions and made any necessary adjustments and lubed drive assembly where applicable. As always, it is not recommended that you put GAF projectors in their "Stop" position and by design, both reels will oppose each other and that can stretch or break film. If you need to "Stop", simply move switch to "Off" position. New and correct, rubber and cloth main drive belt installed. All other internal drive belts replaced or  reconditioned for years of trouble-free service. Burnished FF & REW internal wheels for positive traction. Also installed new FF & REW pinch rollers. Entire projector has been cleaned inside and out! (GAF's usually require about 5-20 seconds of warm-up time for the belts / wheels / tires to stick, prior to feeding film, especially for fast wind functions. Due to resurfacing of wheels, they can also be a bit "squeaky" in operation). Entire projector has been cleaned inside and out! This unit is ready to go. Looks and works great! While the unit comes with the take-up reel, we do not have a lid / front cover with it. Comes with take-up reel, 1 reel hub adaptor for your Super 8mm reels, if you use them. Has NEW lamp already installed. This one also comes with a couple of used, but working spares. Also includes our standard 90 day limited warranty (excluding lamps / bulbs). Measures 11" long x 6.5" deep x 9" tall and weighs 10 lbs unpacked. Film shown in photos not included.

It was approximately 70% disassembled internally for restoration. Main drive belt replaced with new one for trouble-free service. Balance of projector is "chain drive" with no rubber parts to fail. Both hub clutches disassembled, cleaned and re-lubed (prior to that they are almost always frozen due to "varnished" lube, and these were no exception). This particular model utilizes "coil spring" clutches which, by design, are trouble-free and have just had a fresh cleaning and lube. We also disassembled the reel arms completely, cleaned and re-lubed all the gears. Motor was removed and completely disassembled, cleaned, brushes cleaned, commutator cleaned and burnished, bushings cleaned and re-lubed and then reassembled. The motor in this unit does not utilize a capacitor for starting or speed accuracy, so no need to worry about one failing down the road. Speed control is via the built-in rheostat. A very durable design. Auto-Load functions well with film leaders that are in good shape with no creases, curls or bends. Film trimmer built in to dress film prior to loading. Again, this unit had extensive restoration (about 10 hours) and came out GREAT!!! This unit is ready to go. Looks near new and works great! Even has it's original "hang tags". This would be a good "work horse" for a film transfer house.  Comes with a metal take-up reel as well as the newly installed projection lamp. Will play Regular & Super-8mm films. Projects silent film at 18fps Runs and works well. Features very easy Auto-Loading for film. Very easy to use and works very well. For forward direction play. Has frame-adjust knob for fine tuning frame size. Also has built-in film trimmer. Utilizes model DCH / DJA / DFP 30 volt, 80 watt projection lamp. Front adjustment foot allows for ~1" of height angle adjustment. We have completely checked out all functions and made any necessary adjustments and lubed drive assembly where applicable. As always, it is not recommended that you put GAF projectors in their "Stop" position and by design, both reels will oppose each other and that can stretch or break film. If you need to "Stop", simply move switch to "Off" position. New and correct, rubber and cloth main drive belt installed. All other internal drive belts replaced or  reconditioned for years of trouble-free service. Burnished FF & REW internal wheels for positive traction. Also installed new FF & REW pinch rollers. Entire projector has been cleaned inside and out! (GAF's usually require about 5-20 seconds of warm-up time for the belts to stick, prior to feeding film). Entire projector has been cleaned inside and out! This unit is ready to go. Looks and works great! Comes with front cover / lid, take-up reel, 1 reel hub adaptor for your Super 8mm reels, if you use them. Has NEW lamp already installed.  VERY WELL BUILT AND DESIGNED SIMPLY, Vernon, model S-500 Super 8mm movie film / cine projector w/ Variable Speed. Features easy Auto-Loading for film. Also very importantly, features Variable Speed projection rate for flicker-free video transfers! Very easy to use and load. Original ZOOM Lens  specs 20mm-32mm &  f=/1.5. Projector will play forwards or backwards and has a "still" mode. Has frame-adjust knob for fine tuning frame size. Utilizes model KP-GT 8 volt, 50 watt projection lamp. New, fresh one installed prior to shipment. Will project forward or backward, with or without lamp. Front adjustment foot allows for ~1.5" of height angle adjustment. Very well built all metal construction. We have completely gone through this projector. It was approximately 70% disassembled internally for restoration. Main drive belt replaced with new one for trouble-free service. Balance of projector is "chain drive" and "spring drive" with no rubber parts to fail. Both hub clutches disassembled, cleaned and re-lubed. This particular model utilizes "ratchet" clutches which, by design, are trouble-free and have just had a fresh cleaning and lube. We also disassembled the reel arms completely, cleaned and re-lubed all the gears. Motor was removed and completely disassembled, cleaned, brushes cleaned, commutator cleaned and burnished, bushings cleaned and re-lubed and then reassembled. The motor in this unit does not utilize a capacitor for starting or speed accuracy, so no need to worry about one failing down the road. Speed control is via the built-in rheostat. A very durable design. Auto-Load functions well with film leaders that are in good shape with no creases, curls or bends. The Auto-Load design on this machine also lends itself to not being prone to eating films, like some of the more complicated auto-load designs. Film trimmer built in to dress film prior to loading. Again, this unit had extensive restoration and came out GREAT!!! This unit is ready to go. Looks near and works great! Again, this is one of the most well built, and internally simplest projectors we have restored. They should all have been built like this. This would be a good "work horse" for a film transfer house. Includes a copy of the owners / users manual and the lid / front cover. Comes with a take-up reel as well as the newly installed projection lamp. Also includes our standard 90 day limited warranty (excluding lamps / bulbs). Measures 11" wide x 6" deep x 10" tall (with film arms folded) and weighs 10 lbs unpacked.
